Dr. David Young is the author of ten collections of poetry, most recently BLACK LAB (Knopf, 2006) as well as numerous books of translation, literary criticism, creative nonfiction, and literary anthologies. He helps edit FIELD, a twice-yearly journal of poetry and poetics, and the Oberlin College Press, which publishes contemporary American poetry as well as poetry in translation. His most recent book of poetry in translation is DUFU: A LIFE IN POETRY(Knopf, 2008).
His poetry appeared in Best American Poetry 2008, the Pushcart Anthology, and numerous publications. He is a winner of a Pushcart Prize, OSU The Journal Award, Ohio Major Artist Award, Ohioana Poetry Award, Ohio Arts Council Award, U.S. Award of the International Poetry Forum, and others. He received the Witter Bynner Translation Fellowship and the Huntington Library Fellowship. Dr. Young served as the Bogliasco Fellow and the Guggenheim Fellow in Poetry.
